Merry Christmas!

RUF Update

With the holiday season fully under way, the semester has now concluded, both for my students and for me. Since my last update, several events have happened: a barn dance, a Christmas party, lessons and carols, and many more. They were all sweet times of bonding and fellowship for our students. Below are some pictures from our gingerbread house competition at our Christmas party.

Over the course of the semester several new faces showed up to our large group Bible study which was very encouraging. God is really at work here in Winthrop even though it seems imperceptible at times. It has been an honor this past semester to get to join in on this through preaching, leading Bible studies, and meeting with students. I won’t lie, it was tough at first being at a new campus and learning all their quirks, but it has also been a blessing to watch how the same Gospel transforms lives 335 miles away from Cookeville. My hope is that in this coming semester God will continue to use me to reach and equip students to serve in his kingdom.

To go along with this, I want to say thank you! Without all of your support, prayers, and generosity, none of this would be possible. Thank you for helping put smiles on those faces above. Thank you for enabling the Gospel to be proclaimed here, at this tiny college in Rockhill, SC. You help to make all of this possible!

Seminary

As I said above, I too am complete with my first semester of Seminary! All the papers are in, tests taken, and pages read. It certainly was challenging, but also incredibly rewarding. Even though it has only been one semester, I already feel as if I have learned so much. Yet, I still have many more classes to take and things to learn before I am finished. This is all very exciting for me, and I have been enjoying this opportunity immensely.

Personal

Gabby and I are about to embark on our annual holiday adventure, first to see her family, then mine. We are excited to have some time off to spend together and with those we have not had a chance to see for a little while. This is not to say we have not been enjoying Charlotte though! We have made many sweet friendships swiftly since arriving here. We have enjoyed several new and fun places to eat. We have found a loving and wonderful church community to join. God really made our transition to Charlotte much easier than I anticipated and for that I am very grateful.

Year End Giving

I want to say thank you again for all of your kindness and support. I am so grateful for all that you have done for me and the ways that you have supported not only my ministry but my education as well. Another semester is on its way and with it come more costs. With this in mind, I would very much so appreciate it if you would consider me in any year end giving you may do. All the support that comes in for me helps with anything from buying coffee for students, books for classes, all the way to my tuition. Thank you for your consideration.

Prayer Requests

  • For wisdom and guidance on how to do part-time ministry well.

  • For good time management and boundaries with seminary.

  • For safe travels during this season.
